It took several starts for me to finish, I just wasn’t swept overboard by any of the elements. ** I’m a huge Tara Lain fan and this book just sort of underwhelmed me. Will and Noah make a go of it and with some razzle dazzle Noah ends up with a scholarship, Will ends up in art school and we get a really lovely HEA. Noah loses the scholarship (sort of) due to sour grapes. Noah and his professor end their relationship (this isn’t taken well by the prof.). In the meantime he’s having an affair with his teacher, who is also a judge for the scholarship. Noah is an out and proud artist, working 3 jobs to pay tuition, hoping for the same scholarship Will is after because he’s so broke he’s having a hard time paying the bills. His goal is to win a scholarship for next year and be honest then. What he really wants is to be a gay painter, but he can’t afford to be honest with either his sexuality or his preferred profession. ![]() ![]() Will is in his last year of business school (to satisfy Daddy) playing the straight, star quarterback for SCU. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() He lives in Brooklyn, New York with his family. Stephen Kalberg's internationally acclaimed translation captures the essence of Weber's style as well as the subtlety of his descriptions and causal arguments. Now more timely and thought-provoking than ever, this esteemed classic of twentieth-century social science examines the deep cultural "frame of mind" that influences work life to this day in northern America and Western Europe. For more than 100 years, The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism has set the parameters for the debate over the origins of modern capitalism. ![]() ![]() ![]() Cisneros tells this urgent story with focus and heart-wrenching realism, especially concerning the ripple effects of family separation, not just at the border but also among those in the U.S." - Publishers Weekly (starred review) immigration policies rip through one Southern California family. ![]() "As affecting as it is timely, Cisneros’s debut depicts how draconian U.S. But even as Efrén's world seems to be crashing around him, Cisneros celebrates the kindness of the Mexican American community and its richness of food, culture, and resilient spirit.Honest and tender: a must-read." - Kirkus Reviews (starred review) ![]() "Debut author Cisneros paints a vivid and palpable #ownvoices picture of the lost childhoods as children and parents are separated due to immigration issues. ![]() ![]() ![]() 'NO MORE MONKEYS JUMPING ON THE BED ' The nursery rhyme 'Five Little Monkeys' has long been a favorite song and finger play with the preschool set, but Eileen Christelow gives it new life as a hilarious picture book. ![]() Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability. Some experts think that the outbreak was caused by a drop in medical services in some poor neighborhoods in the middle of Baltimore. In order to try to figure out why there is so much syphilis in Baltimore, the author uses several other theories. ![]() In this chapter, Gladwell gives reasons why the situation could have become an epidemic instead of just a small problem.
